The words that jumped out to me were "It's easy to let fear consume us!" How true those words are Rosalind. It's easy to beat ourselves up wondering about the what-ifs and maybes of life, push ourselves too hard, and feeling we must go on, particularly in areas of careers and throughout the rigours of searching for a job. All of us need a break from time-to-time and if we don't take it voluntarily, life will force us to take it when we least expect it or want it! Thought provoking article indeed!

Thanks, Rosa. I gotta' watch the tone. I don't want it to be so "moving" unless it's to get people up off their butts :) I hope your Dad does as well as possible. I've been in that place, taking care of parents, for many years, and it's sad and draining for all!

How profound, Roasalind. I too, like Jacqui, always feel moved when I come to this site. I am always put back into perspective when I come to this blog. I know many job seekers will benefit from reading your post and knowing they are not alone during this holiday season.

There ARE others trying to balance work and illness. In my family, we are dealing with my dad being sick again during the holidays, so I can tell you first hand this post has hit home.

Putting a few things in the back burner for a while and tend to loved ones and help my dad drive his bus this season.

Thank you!

Rosalind,

I think this is excellent advice for people who are not suffering with chronic illness as well. Everyone needs to take time to turn it off and recharge. Your post is a great reminder that people shouldn't feel guilty about taking care of themselves.

Wow, Rosalind, what a thoughtful post (but I'm used to that when reading your words).

What particularly struck me was the line, "Illness doesn't respect holidays."

Even more striking, was your wisdom in arriving at a set of bulleted, fleshy questions to help the reader come to the conclusion they need to and MUST drive their own bus and find a way to rest and rejuvenate.

Excellent words; excellent contribution!
