Hi Rosalind- Yes it will make a difference. No he doesn't have a chronic illness and the issues he will face are unique to his blindness. What if, just what if people talked about him as the governor and did not include blind in front of governor. Being present with the work he does and how he gets it done in his style is what will open the 'idea' he is no different than any other governor he just does his job blind. Witnessing the job being done is the view for change. The greater number of times the general public learn people with disabilities and chronic illness accomplish their goals and work the more common to them it will seem. As ideas become common the ides find there way into the world of acceptance and often normal. I am looking forward to following his journey and letting him know I ‘get it’, disability and chronic illness is a part of our culture and who we are. -Sherry
