I just got an email from someone who saw my blogs.  She wants me to know that she doesn’t understand why I feel “compelled to write about working with a chronic illness.”  Oh, and FYI — she’s recently gotten a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis but she doesn’t see that it should be a problem to continue her already successful career.

I replied that I hope that it isn’t for her!  But, I’m writing for those who do find it difficult. As I did.  You see, I found that living with a chronic illness and creating a successful career seem to be opposing forces - because this high pressured, high demand work world adds another layer to the already stressful experience of living with unpredictable and often debilitating chronic illness.

But I don’t believe it’s impossible either.   But, I’ve figured out that your point of reference has to start with this question: “What do I need from a job environment”? I think that I had such a difficult time finding the right career with the right enviroment  because I didn’t even know that it was a question I should be asking.

I was a multi media producer - lugging around equipment, operating in tight deadlines and lot so pressure and doing a job that had no “back up”  — when I first got MS and I was working in a large corporate environment.  I left that job when I couldn’t physically do it but it took years of stumbling to get it right.

I want to shorten that time for you. That’s why I’ve created the Career Thrive Series.  And, hey,  if you don’t want to buy all 3, why not start with the first one: The 7 Factors Creating Career Success While Living with Chronic Illness.

Oh, and by the way, check out the new cicoach.com new website! It’s got a whole new look and feel to it. I hope it’s easier to find your way around.
