My apologies for those who received the last few posts in gobbledeygook.  That wasn’t my intention (if you didn’t read the last post about intention, you should!) But as we know, even with the “right” intentions, things can still mess us up.

istockwoman-pulling-hair.jpgTechnology does it. And so does chronic illness.
Have you found that when you least expect it, illness flares… and you’re not prepared? Or, uh oh, there’s this new pain, making it difficult — if not impossible — to get that tough task done.

Some people tell me how pain stops them, grinds them to a halt. Others tell me how they manage to “push through” some days — and other days it’s impossible.

Jane Brody, Health columnist for the New York Times, is writing a three part series on pain. I’m struck that she doesn’t cite any of the resources I look at, such as the American Association of Chronic Pain, which is doing really important work on this subject.

If you’re living in pain, I bet that you want to know that the rest of the world, the people who don’t live in pain, understand that just because you can’t see it and can’t measure it, it doesn’t mean it isn’t so. Articles like these are a step in the right direction. Email it to your boss!

Thanks for pointing us to the NYT piece. It’s great that the reality of living with chronic pain will be represented here and will reach so many people.
