Holiday parties with the inevitable: “How are you? What’s new?”

Do I say, “Hmm, lately I’ve been plagued with nocturnal enuresis, night bed-wetting associated with bladder dysfunction from MS”.

I don’t think so. What makes this so ugly for me is that I feel both infantilized (memories of childhood ) and like an old person ( my grandmother). I find it degrading — I’m lucky to have an empathic bedmate/husband.

What’s a girl to do? I wake up cranky and angry - but then I walk my dog, Iko, do some Focusing on this stuff, get on my computer, talk to clients and I feel normal again. It’s not gone, just better. That’s good enough.

Back to the holiday parties. I hate small talk. People who know me know they get the the real deal when I’m asked such questions. But nocturnal enuresis? Nope, not good cocktail party talk. I’ll stick to stories about this blog, my girls, even the dogs.
